The Side Plank Scoop takes the basic Plank position to the next level! Not only are you working on holding your plank using your hamstrings, but now you’re strengthening your lower abs (called the transverse abdominis) by bringing your arms under your body and adding rotation. For a change, you can place your lower knee on the ground, or if your wrist is bothering you, do a wrist squat.
This is your difficult position! The crow stand is an arm balance movement, but that doesn’t mean your arms are the only ones doing the walking. In fact, it is almost impossible to achieve this position without using a lot of core strength. After bringing your knees behind your hands, pull your abs in before lifting your feet off the ground to regain balance. To change it up, place your head gently on the floor and use Tripod Pose instead.
